To further help you transition from your thinking processes to your writing processes, I’d like you to again review if you need the “Arriving at a Working Thesis” handout and then choose either the same or a different approach as last time to generate a working thesis.
For your final essay, essay #3, you will select one text (either “The Metamorphosis” or The Trial). Select your text and then begin drafting your working thesis. Write at least 250 words, exploring your responses. Then reread your responses and underline 2-3 sentences, “your gems,” that encapsulate what you are trying to say about the short story or the novel. If you are going to develop an interpretative question, reread your 2-3 sentences that you underlined and based on your underlined sentences generate your interpretative question.
Label your log entry as follows: “Log Entry #10: Working Thesis The Trial or “The Metamorphosis.” Finally, put your word count at the end of your entry, for example, 276 words.
