Rubric: You will be graded on the extent to which you successfully fulfilled the goal of the assignment. In other words, how well did you describe and synthesize the research and theory relevant to your topic? Because everyone will approach the assignment differently, it is difficult to present a grading rubric here. However, here are some things we’ll be looking for as we read your paper: •Does the paper present more than one perspective on the topic (e.g. by including papers from different authors or by discussing different theoretical positions)?•Are the sources the author has chosen to discuss appropriate and of good quality? For example, do the sources speak to the topic set forth in the introduction? If a source is an empirical article, is the study design solid and are the conclusions warranted?•Does the author evaluate the evidence s/he presents? For example, if there are some flaws in research design or study conclusions, are they acknowledged? Additionally, does the author offer suggestions for further research and thinking (e.g. improved design or new research questions)?•Does the paper attempt to integrate research findings and theories (e.g. by making comparisons, drawing links, etc)?•Is the paper well-written and well-organized? •Are references cited throughout the body of your paper using APA guidelines? Does the paper include a full reference list.
Basically this is a literature review.
I got to choose the topic and I decided to do a literature review on it. My topic is on the causes of eating disorders. It can be changed to causes of anorexia or another eating disorder such as binge eating disorder. I need you to examine good sources that contradict each other that have several citations. For example a source that argues that ED’s are genetic and another that says the causes are familial and another that says it’s societal or caused by peers or trauma.
