the theories your book discussed do you think did the BEST when it came to
explaining gender and crime? Give details on the theory (when it was developed,
etc.) and tell me why you like it the best. (10 points)
4. Explain how
our culture impacts people’s experiences with gender-based abuse. Discuss this
through the inequalities of gender, race, and sexual orientation and how
different vulnerabilities can still lead to victim-blaming. (10 points)
5. Discuss
one corporate or environmental gender-based abuse in detail. Why is this
considered a gender-based abuse? Who are typically the victims of this abuse?
How do researchers respond to this abuse? (10 points)
6. Where do
rape myths come from and who benefits most from them? What is one rape myth in
particular that you have heard. What is the reality (not the myth)? Why do you
think this particular rape myth has been passed along so often? (10 points)
7. What is
sexual harassment and why do we discuss it along with sexual abuse? What is the
relationship between the victims and the perpetrators? What are its impacts?

8. Explain
how the criminal legal system’s response to sexual assault can be harmful. Be
sure to talk about both police and court systems. (10 points)
9. Explain
why psychological and emotional abuse is important to discuss in intimate
partner relationships. How can it get worse for people in our society who are
already marginalized? (10 points)
10. Give a
made-up example of a woman going through the criminal legal system (tell me her
race, class, sexual orientation) for a particular crime that you also make up.
Now tell me how her identity would affect her in the eyes of law makers,
police, and the court system. Is she more or less likely to be treated well or
more harshly than men or other women based on the attributes you gave her? (10
