Being able to communicate complex information is an essential skill for most organizations. While text is the most common communication method, the ability to visually communicate information from data is becoming more and more valuable.
For this assignment, you are a new manager of a team of data analysts and data visual designers at a polling organization that tracks worldwide views on topics. Your team has been asked to create a new dashboard, but before you start working on the dashboard, you realize there is no training documentation in your organization for creating visualizations. To make sure your team follows best practices for creating data visualizations, you are assigned the creation of a 700- to 850-word training document using 3 data visualizations you find online, in newspapers, or in magazines that have a problem with their design or could be significantly improved. In the training document, you will show the original visualization, your improved visualization, and an analysis of the differences and improvements. For each of the 3 visualizations, you should do the following:
Analyze the original visualization to determine the intended message. You should also include an image of the original visualization and a link to its source.
Create an improved data visualization using the data from the original visualization to better communicate the essential information the audience needs.
State the intended message you want to communicate and the target audience for your improved data visualization.
Discuss the changes you made and why those changes improve the ability of the visualization to communicate the intended message.
Discuss what should be avoided from the original visualization and what should be utilized from the recreated visualization.
Cite all sources and graphics according to APA formatting guidelines.
