This research paper will demonstrate your ability to contextualize, analyze, and interpret works of Asian-Pacific art, music, or literature and interpret its importance today. First identify a research topic (visit to a museum, attendance at a concert, read a literary work of Asian origin). Then, put your topic in the context of culture and place, time period, religious or traditional values, aesthetics, social significance, political situation, etc. Finally, apply your own interpretation of the work of art and why it is important today in a way
write in the first person and from your own perspective (not just the one presented in our readings/films). Connect your research to our class discussions and concepts. Include three to five quotes from class readings/films and use proper citation but no more than 20% of your paper should be quoted material.
