An important aspect of being a health leader and advocate is understanding how to identify and critically assess contextual factors that can impact the development and implementation of a health program in a community so you can maximize and not risk losing critical funding and resources.
By conducting a PEST analysis of both the U.S. and Germany, you will gain important knowledge and understanding of how a health issue is addressed similarly and differently in the two countries. What political and societal factors in each country are relevant and most responsible for the spread or containment of the health problem?
Your PEST analyses will be summarized and collated into a reference for your colleagues to use during the trip to Germany, where this knowledge will help inform your assessments and conversations in Germany about the health systems and issues faced in both countries.
