All research requires data analysis that results in reportable findings.
Data analysis procedures for quantitative research should describe the data-collection plan for each variable or group. It should also include a description of the type of data to be collected along with the statistical analyses anticipated. The research analysis needs to align with the research design. A detailed description of the relevant data collected for each stated research question and each variable within each hypothesis (if applicable) is needed.
The what, why, and how should be addressed. Which statistical and non-statistical analysis and procedures will be used to conduct the data analysis? Why will these statistical and nonstatistical data analyses be used? How do these data analysis techniques align with the research question and design? Demonstrate that the quantity and quality of the data are sufficient to answer the research questions. Chapter 8 of the Creswell text provides exemplars of research plans for each of the quantitative designs.
This assessment is a draft of the Methodology and Procedures section of your Concept Paper Project. You will use scholarly literature and the course text to define and describe the methodology and research design. You will also identify and discuss the instruments needed to conduct this potential study, the data collection methods, and the data analysis process.
Before beginning the assessment:
- Ensure that you have identified the quantitative research design that is the most appropriate for your research topic; that is, descriptive, experimental, or quasi-experimental.
- Ask why this research design is the best for addressing your research topic. Also, think about how the methodology, and research design inform the instruments needed, the data collection methods, and the data analysis.
- Watch the interactive learning activities.
Use the Concept Paper Project Instructions [DOCX] for complete instructions for this assignment. Refer to the Methodology and Procedures section.
Use the Concept Paper Project Template [DOCX] to complete the assignment.
You will be graded on the following:
- Define and describe quantitative research.
- Identify, define, and describe the research design.
- Provide a detailed discussion of the instrumentation including the data collection procedures.
- Describe the data analysis procedures
- Convey purpose in an appropriate tone style, incorporating supporting evidence and adhering to organizational, professional, and scholarly writing standards.
- Exhibit proficiency in writing and use of APA (7th edition) style.
- Organization: Use the Concept Paper Template to complete your assignment. It has been created to reflect the proper structure. Please do not modify the template so that you avoid missing content and losing points.
- Length: Define Quantitative Methodology in a few sentences. In that same paragraph, identify define, and describe the research design (a minimum of 7 sentences). Describe the instruments needed in a paragraph (5-7 sentences). Describe data collection methods in a paragraph (5-7 sentences). Describe data analysis in a paragraph (5-7 sentences).
- Sources: Cite to support your claims. Provide justification for choices in research methods.
- Font: New Times Roman, 12 point, double spaced, or any other font approved under current APA style.
- APA Style and Format: Use current APA style and formatting. Refer to Academic Writer or Evidence and APA in the Capella Writing Center.
- Communication: Communicate in a manner that is scholarly, professional, and respectful of the diversity, dignity, and integrity of others, consistent with expectations for members of the human services profession. Written communication should be free of errors that detract from the overall message.
By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the course competencies through the following assessment rubric criteria:
