Album of choice
-Frank sanatra- The World We knew
Directions: You will be immersing yourself in a media format of some kind from 30 or more years of the past. You can do this individually or as a group (no more than 4 students), but you need to make sure that your final paper is distinctly yours. The purpose of this project is to see the changes in American culture from the past to the present! After you have explored your chosen media format, you will be writing a APA paper in which you will be describing the differences you have found between the American culture of the past and what you are currently experiencing in today’s society. Please see below for the possible media formats available for this project.
OPTION 3 – ALBUM
Listen to a full length album from over 30 years ago. This album MUST have lyrics and cannot be just instrumental.
Assignment Part 1:
Before writing your APA paper, you need to examine one of the above media formats in a document. This document will be the observation, notes, questions and answers, and any other comments in regards to the differences and changes in culture from the media format that you chose to today. This can be your own document if you are doing this assignment individually OR a shared document that you are doing with other students (no more than 4 students). If you are watching or listening as a group of students, please pick a specific color of text in this document so I can easily identify who did what in the document. Please see below based on the option that you chose.
OPTION 3 – ALBUM
Before listening to the album of your choice, please find the lyrics to the entire album and copy and paste them into the document. Once you have all the lyrics for the album please listen to the album and type down your thoughts on the differences of culture from the time period of the album and today. Consider some of the ideas at the bottom of this document. If you don’t know what something is, type a question and answer it later by doing additional research. The idea is to see as many differences small and large that you can find between the time period being observed and today’s culture.
Assignment Part 2:
You will be turning in an APA paper in which you need to follow the rubric below.

other information that was relevant from their observation.
Reflection could include feelings of your favorite part of the
media format. What most attracted your attention. Any
aspect of the media format that worried or offended you.
Does the media format give you a better understanding of
where other age generations are coming from? Feel free to
add anything else you think you found interesting or you
valued during this project.
Student includes their media format observation notes 0 4 6 8 10
document in an APPENDIX at the end of their paper (with
editing rights). Make sure it is just a link to the notes document
and not all of the notes themselves.
APA Paper is in a fluid and organized fashion allowing 0 4 6 8 10
the reader to easily follow and understand what the
student is trying to express. Spelling, punctuation,
and grammar is accurate. 4 academic resources and 4
minimum pages in length.
