After reading through Chapter 4 you now know a bit about the psychosocial developmental stages proposed by Jean Piaget. For this assignment I’d like you to talk to your primary caregiver who took care of you as a child, for most it will be your mother but it might be an aunt or grandmother or other family member.
Describe to them Piaget’s Preoperational Stage of development and together come up with a story (or two) from your own childhood that demonstrates some behavior that fits Piaget’s theory. The terms you want to focus on our centration, egocentrism, and appearance as reality.
Using these stories, you will compose an essay of 300 words (minimum). I strongly suggest you compose (and save!) this essay in a Word document that you can then copy and paste in the text box that appears after clicking “Reply” below (please do NOT attach files). Composing in Word allows you to ensure you meet the minimum word count as well as have some help with spelling and grammar.
In your first paragraph, please tell us who you spoke to and their relationship to you. Tell us what they thought of the Piaget’s theory you talked about.
In the second paragraph, tell us the story you came up that demonstrates a behavior that Piaget proposed happens in the preoperational stage.
In the third paragraph, tell us something you learned in this chapter (or any chapter in this first module) that you found surprising or important.
Once you’ve posted your story, you’ll be able to read other students’ stories and will need to make comments on at least 2 other stories. Your comments can include another story from your own life or you can demonstrate your own knowledge of Piaget’s stages.
The essay is due Thursday night. The whole assignment is worth 30 points; each response post is worth 3 points (response posts should be 75 words minimum).
To summarize:
