Access the NTSB aviation accident reports websiteLinks to an external site., then choose a noteworthy NTSB aircraft accident report (AAR) and conduct further research into the accident. Regarding noteworthy, the AAR must have resulted in three or more recommendations; it is also advantageous to choose an accident occurrence between 1983 and 2022.
Upload the NTSB report (PDF) or share the link in the NTSB Report Choice discussion board so other students and your instructor can see it. The discussion itself is an ungraded activity, but necessary for this assignment so as to avoid duplication among the class. Post the full name of the report you have chosen to the discussion board activity on or after Mar 7, to preclude duplicate reporting. Duplicate reporting will be docked 10 points based on the discussion activity’s timestamp.
The Case Study will contain the following sections:
Introduction & Background
Provide a summation or background of the events. Do NOT simply copy and paste from the NTSB report.
Probable Cause
Identify and expound upon the probable cause and contributing factors, when applicable. Again, do not simply copy and paste, provide additional explanation.
Findings
Include findings that are associated to either the probable cause or the recommendations to be presented in the next section.
Recommendations
Identify and explain at least three recommendations. Conduct additional research (NTSB CAROL) to determine the status of the recommendations. Were they implemented? If so, have they been effective? If not, why have they not been implemented?
Conclusion
On the basis of the recommendations above, conclude with a description of how the industry has grown or changed as a result of this accident. Are there additional improvements needed?
