CONTEXT: You are a member of the Senior Leadership Team for Baldrige Award winning healthcare organization, GBMC Healthcare. The CEO has charged the SLT with conducting strategic planning for GBMC and this year, we are going to use some new approaches! You will want to refer to the GBMC strategic planning model and their strategic plan but we will not be using their model in this project so do not let that confuse you. Effective strategic planning begins with defining the organization’s value proposition. The value proposition informs the development of the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
PREPARATION: Your learning materials for this week and focus on Category 1-2 of GBMC. Take particular note of their strategic planning model and of their strategic plan.

SITUATION: Using the template provide, the CEO has asked the team to evaluate the organization’s value proposition and advise as to the source of value creation (value discipline) for the organization. Recognizing that operationalization of the value discipline throughout the organization is critical to creating organizational competencies and capabilities to deliver on the value discipline, he/she has asked you to evaluate the operationalization of the value discipline through GBMC’s mission, vision, values and key operation procedures.
