A teacher’s ability to identify the students’ needs and intervene quickly is a vital component of ensuring all students receive the support they need. Much like a unit plan, intervention plans contain targeted learning objectives aligned to state standards and determine how the content will be taught and assessed over a span of several days.
Select one student with exceptionalities from your Topic 2 Field Experience or the “Class Profile,” Be sure to maintain confidentiality by using pseudonyms when identifying students in the field experience class. Create an intervention plan for the selected student using the “COE 3 Day Unit Plan Template.” Complete the unit plan using a MTSS approach, such as RTI, or the approach used by your field experience setting.
Complete all components of the template for the individual student. Assume the student’s grade and choose national or state content standards that are appropriate for that grade level. In the 3-day plan, include the following:
Minimum of 2-3 national or state content standards based on the student’s remediation needs and chosen grade level
Specific activities for each of the three days to target remediation of one or multiple standards, with at least one activity incorporating technology to ensure the accessibility and/or relevance for the student
An informal assessment for each of the three days intended to check student progress
One overall formal assessment to ensure full understanding of remedial standards
In a 100-250 words, justify how your plan creates a supportive learning environment that encourages self-advocacy, increases independence, and emphasizes the safe and ethical use of information and technology. Discuss how your unit plan reflects your MTSS approach and how the curriculum was modified to make it accessible for individuals with exceptionalities.
Support your findings with a minimum of one scholarly resource.
