An autobiography is the story of a
person’s life as written by the person in question told from a first-person
point of view. The goal of this book report is to summarize the major life events
of David J. Pelzer that led to his entry into the foster care system.
The objective of this assignment is
for you to develop self-awareness of personal beliefs, values and attitudes
related to social work issues and social welfare policy; and, demonstrate the
ability to use the campus library and internet for research.

J. Pelzer. The report must be written in APA style (doubled-space, typed, 12pt
font size , Times New Roman font, running head on each paper, title page,
and citation page) (20 pts)

that are clear indicators of child abuse.  (30 pts)

Explain how you think this book has impacted the world and the
child welfare system, (i.e. State Laws, reporting requirements, etc). (This
part will require you search sources outside of the book) (20 pts)

Compare and contrast at least two (2)
state welfare systems (ex. GA child welfare laws- vs. – FL). Give details such
as if mandated reporters are the same in the states, are reporting procedures
the same, or if the workers are employed by the state or private agencies.  (20 pts)

Give your personal opinion about the author and book. Would you
recommend it to others interested in the field of social work? Why or why not?
