Personal Note: This essay must be based on another essay which I have written. The prompt for the past essay was “Define your generation.” I wrote about how this generation will be known as one that has made businesses dependent on social media for success. Here is the link to my essay for context. It will be very helpful to read this to understand where I am going with my topic.: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BIocDrkv2bf7Wd-h1Dhi_Sre3Chsf3KFIhNRdT_KnIk/edit?usp=sharing. These essays are supposed to be written as a narrative while still making an argument and taking a side. The official instructions are written below:
For this writing assignment, students will look at the current status of how Generation Z has been shaped and influenced. Many of these influences come with both advantages and disadvantages. While supporters point to the law’s success in providing greater opportunities for women both in and out of athletics, critics charge Title IX sets up a quota system, jeopardizes men’s sports, and causes reverse discrimination. Still other critics claim that it does not do enough and its shortcomings demonstrate that it does not speak to the needs of an ever changing culture and society where our concepts of gender continues to evolve.
For this essay assignment, you will research an issue that specifically concerns the current status of this influence, event, attitude, or activity, analyzing the pros and cons while citing reliable, trustworthy sources, objective critics, and lawmakers to formulate a thesis that reflects your final conclusions based on your findings. This can be related to any of the topics that we have discussed in class with regards to our readings, in class activities, journal assignments, and class discussions. Be sure to focus on ONE aspect of of this event or trend made in your last essay (link above). Prompt: In your assessment of this trend or event shaping Generation Z, what is your final position that you take on this issue? Cite your research which should include a plethora of different sources such as: academic researchers, lawmakers, policymakers, think tanks, news reporters, critics, etc.
Requirements for this assignment:
Minimum of 1500 words
MLA documentation
Six outside sources from different genres or research (government documents, academic journals, think tanks, news articles).

Anecdote
Statistic
Direct Quote from Expert in the Field
Testimonial
Provide a general introduction to the problem as it is today (make the reader care about the problem)
The introduction should clearly define a problem that has arisen based on your second essay. What is “the quality” of the problem for the purposes of this research class—is it important enough? Is it something that could be solved by a public policy?
A frame for the aspect of the problem you’ll focus on and its historical timeline (your perspective on the problem):
Identify a set of specific historical factors (people, events, dates, places, etc.) that have created or influenced the development of the current problem. Show the links between the problem and its history. What are the historical factors from the thesis that you are claiming had a specific role in the development of the problem?
Highly credible sources:
This source must be an actual person, an expert within a field related to your topic. You will write your annotated bibliographies on these sources.
