1. Non-pharmacological therapies Auricular therapy was studied by He et al., 2013.
They reported that nurses initiated the therapy and prove beneficial in reducing post-
operative care and decreasing patients in reliance on opioids (Please refer to
slide 24).
Auricular therapy was originated and have been used in China for over 2,000 years from
China (Please refer to slide 3 & 5). It was further studied by western countries (Please
refer to slide 4 & 5)
Discussion on the floor:
1. The pain reduction is still significant though 8% of BBA group had 5 or more seeds missing, and 23% with 5 or more pads missing on POD4 in the BAA group (Please refer to slide 24).
2. It is worthwhile to conduct pilot study for post-op pain relief in post-op joint team as more and more old age group patients cannot use oral pharmacal therapy due to their poor renal and liver function and greatly suffer from severe wound pain and delay their post-op rehabilitation
3. But, the project person have to control the variables carefully (Please refer to slide 28).
