Objective: Explore how psychological
disorders are portrayed in popular media and analyze the accuracy and impact of
these representations.
Task:
Choose a Movie or TV Show: Select a popular movie or
TV show that prominently features a character with a psychological
disorder.   Your answer to number one will be what movie or
show you have chosen. 
Research the Disorder (100 words
or more): Conduct research on the psychological disorder depicted in
your chosen media. Identify its symptoms, causes, and treatment
options.   Your answer to number two will be: 
identifing the symptoms of the choosen disorder, causes of the choosen
disorder, and treatment options of the choosen disorder. 
3.  For number three, students have a choice of
“Watch and Analyze” or “Writen Report” 
(150-200 words or more)  Watch and Analyze: Watch the movie or
TV show critically, focusing on the portrayal of the character with a disorder.
Take notes on how accurately the symptoms and behaviors associated with the
disorder are depicted. Your answer to number three will answer the
following questions:   1. Does the portrayal align with what you
learned from your research?  2. How does the character’s disorder
affect their life and interactions with others?  3.Your opinion on whether
the portrayal helps raise awareness about the disorder or perpetuates
stereotypes.4. Suggestions for improving the portrayal of psychological
disorders in media. 
(150-200 words or more) Write a Report: Write a report
summarizing your findings. Your answer to number three will answer the
following  1.A brief summary of the movie or TV show and its
main character(s) with the disorder.  2. An analysis of the accuracy
of the portrayal based on your research.  3.Your opinion on whether the
portrayal helps raise awareness about the disorder or perpetuates stereotypes.
4. Suggestions for improving the portrayal of psychological disorders in
media.
Minimum 500 words but not exceeding 600.  Students can
resubmit up to the due date to work on any issues such as plagarism percentage.
OPTION TWO: “Create Your Own Superhero with a
Psychological Disorder”
Objective: Combine creativity with an
understanding of psychological disorders to create a unique superhero
character.
Task:
Choose a Psychological Disorder: Select one psychological
disorder from your chpater reading (e.g., depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD,
bipolar disorder, schizophrenia).
Character
Creation:  100 words or more.
Design a superhero character who possesses this
disorder. Consider their appearance, superpowers, and backstory.
Describe how the disorder affects their daily life
and superhero activities. For example, how might their disorder influence
their decisions, relationships, or interactions with villains and allies?
Superpowers and
Weaknesses: 100 words or more.
Invent superpowers that either relate to or contrast
with the disorder. How might their disorder influence the manifestation
or control of these powers?
Identify weaknesses or vulnerabilities that stem from
their disorder. How do these vulnerabilities challenge their role as a
superhero?
Illustrate or
Describe: 200 words or more.
Write a short narrative that introduces your
superhero character, detailing their origin story, their mission as a
superhero, and how their disorder shapes their journey.
Reflection: 100
words or  more.
Reflect on the process of creating this character.
How did exploring the disorder deepen your understanding of its impact on
individuals?
Discuss how portraying superheroes with disorders in
media could influence public perception and awareness of mental health
issues.
Minimum 500 words but not exceeding 600.  Students can
resubmit up to the due date to work on any issues such as plagarism percentage.
