discuss a SOCIAL ISSUE that you find most concerning. For this assignment,
you are to imagine yourself as a Sociologist. Your task for this assignment is
to apply your knowledge of the introductory chapter and the Social Research
Process in exploring an issue that matters to you most. Employing then the steps
in the research process, you are to create a proposal
for research. In your proposal, apply THREE sociological concept from
any of the chapters we have covered so far.
You would first you to identify
the topic or issue. What is it that you wish to explore or understand further.
It is only when you identify the topic that you then begin step two

Define the problem, what is it that you wish to
understand further. Why is it important?

For the literature review, just quickly search on scholar.google.com or google.com for
two or three articles (does not have to
be peer-reviewed, it can be a news article) to help you understand the
issue more in depth)

This is more important now that you have a better
understanding of what you wish to study. You are to create 2 questions which you wish to explore, to confirm, to understand
further. It can be either a statement or a question you wish to explore.
(For example:
Marginals minority are more likely to be racially profiled than other social
groups. Or In general, women are likely to be burdened with housework even in
two household incomes)

In this section of your proposal, you must make a case
for why you would employ Qualitative or Quantitative Research Methods. Perhaps
this is most difficult but remember how narrow or broad your hypothesis
determines the method. Be see address also how you plan to identify your
subjects or respondents (Sampling)

In the conclusion part of the proposal, you are to
discuss the importance of what you may uncover or gather from your research and
as well as how might this research help us understand the social problems
affecting our lives.

pages, double spacing, 12-point Font, and Times New Roman Style.

If the author’s name is mentioned in the text, use a
parenthetical reference to show the year of publication at the end of the
sentence.

If the author’s name is not mentioned in the text,
it should be included along with the year of publication within parentheses.
Example:…but it has been argued that this was not
the case (Welch 1991 :136).
When quoting or citing a specific
part of a text, page numbers should be included within parentheses after the
year of publication. These are separated by a colon and no spaces.
