You will write an 8-10 page paper (not including title and reference pages) in A

June 22, 2024

You will write an 8-10 page paper (not including title and reference pages) in APA 7th edition format. Be sure to cite your sources in the body of
your paper as well as on your reference page. Be sure to include a title and reference page. Use bolded headings below as the headings in your
paper (do not include directions). Be sure to thoroughly complete all parts of each section listed below. Your paper should be free of spelling,
punctuation, and grammar errors. Demonstrate professional demeanor in your writing and critical thought throughout your paper.
Step 1: For your paper select a focus identifying three key areas (type of intervention, population, and issue).
1. Select one focus on intervention (group, community, or organizational level).
2. Select a population of interest (children, youth, adults, veterans, aging, etc.).
3. Select an issue this population may be experiencing (homelessness, poverty, bullying, depression, etc.)
These three choices will be the focus of your paper. For instance, groups with adolescents who are struggling with cyberbullying, community
support groups for veterans who are experiencing houselessness, leading an organizational training to discuss parents receiving services for child
neglect.
Tip: you want to identify a topic where you are able to find a wealth of peer-reviewed, scholarly sources in the library. Give thought to UMASS
Library search terms. It is recommended that you do this first to help shape the direction of your paper.
Step 2: Follow the below directions, using the bolded headings for your paper.
Introduction: Introduce the topic and focus of your paper
Rights-based, Anti-Racist, and Anti-Oppressive Social Work Practice with identified intervention, population, and issue. Identify one historical
and two current areas of oppression that this identified population has experienced. As a social worker, identify three ways that you will take
steps to work from a rights-based, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive social work practice with this population? (Must include citations and
references from 2 different scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles and/or academic material within the course).
Intervention Skills. Based on your chosen intervention focus (group, community, or organization) for your selected population, identify two
important skills needed by a social worker in order to ensure this population feels supported and heard. For instance, at any intervention level
the skill of taking control and silencing group or community members may have an adverse effect on promoting trust and cohesion. To avoid this
type of scenario, what skill is needed? (Must include citations from 2 different scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles and/or academic material
within the course).
Evidence-Based Practice Intervention. Locate two peer-reviewed, scholarly articles that will help you with a practice intervention for working
with either groups, communities, or organizations (for example, an evidenced-based group intervention could be using a mindfulness-based
cognitive therapy approach or psychoeducation; a community-based practice intervention might be focused on the problem solving model or
community engagement; and an organizational intervention may focus on the sanctuary model or logic model for program development). Must
include citations from 2 different scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles.
Ethical Dilemma and Application of NASW Code of Ethics & Relevant Law/Policy. Create an ethical dilemma that you could experience in social
work practice with identified intervention, population, and issue. (Must include two references for in-text citations). For this ethical dilemma you
have created, address the following,
➢ Apply at least one ethical principle from the NASW Code of Ethics (2021) to the ethical dilemma.
➢ Apply at least one ethical standard from the NASW Code of Ethics (2021) to the ethical dilemma.
➢ Identify at least one relevant state law or a state social work licensing regulation (make sure to identify the state as social work licensing
varies from state to state) that could be applied to your ethical dilemma.
Ethical Decision Making Model. Select one ethical decision-making model and discuss how this could be applied to your ethical dilemma. (Must
include academic material within the course).
Self-care Practice. How will you manage your personal and professional values when working with the identified intervention, population, and
issue? How might your professional judgment be impacted if you do not attend to or implement self-care practices? (Must include citations from
2 different scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles and/or academic material within the course).
Conclusion. Provide a conclusion focused on how this course has helped to inform your social work professional behavior and practice as you
continue in the program. What do you see as your strengths going forward in understanding social work practice with groups, communities, and
organizations? What do you see as your challenges going forward in understanding social work practice with groups, communities, and
organizations?
