This Part B assignment is a continuation of Part A. Use the same organization that you used in Part A and transfer all the tools and analysis paragraphs from Part A to the Appendices of Part B. Update the tools to incorporate your instructor’s feedback. The Appendices will not be marked again but you can benefit from the feedback you get in Part A since Part B builds entirely on the foundation of Part A.
The requirements
Using that organization as the subject for the rest of the assignment and drawing from the course material as appropriate from weeks one to nine of MGMT 562, write a strategic plan for that organization. Use your own critical thinking to recommend the vision, goals, and objectives for the organization based on the data filtered through your tools; if the organization has a vision statement, you should disregard it and create your own. The purpose of this assignment is to ensure you are able to demonstrate strategic and critical thinking skills learned in MGMT 562 to create a strategic plan at a level expected of an MGM graduate and global leader.
Based on the foundational information from Part A, write a simulated strategic plan including each of the following sections. Use the appropriate strategic tools from MGMT 562 to drive the logic as you populate the sections of your Strategic Plan.
You may choose your own format for the strategic plan, if it contains — at a minimum — the following components;
One-page executive summary of your strategic plan at the beginning of the paper. The executive summary should be a stand-alone document with enough detail from each section that the recommendations (in this case, the strategies) make sense. The executive summary is included in the word count.
Background information: Based on the appendices, include a one-paragraph summary of the internal and external environment to provide context for the vision which follows.
Vision: using the strategic tools as a foundation, identify and describe in detail a potentially lucrative (for-profit organizations) or beneficial (government and not-for-profit) spot for the organization to be in in the future. Conclude this section by summarizing this desirable future spot into a concisely worded vision statement. Please note that the vision should be different than the actual vision of the organization. The vision should be based on your analysis of the data captured in the Appendices. Whether it is close to the actual vision of the organization or completely different, the vision should be original (not the same as the existing vision) and driven entirely by the Appendices.
Goals: define and describe two quantifiable goals for three to five years from now that, collectively, will indicate that the organization is on track to achieving their vision. Use quantifiers such as (but not limited to) the number of, or percentage of, etc; or definitive words like launch, establish, complete, etc. Include rationale for each goal.
Objectives: describe two or three shorter term objectives for each of the two goals. Include rationale for each objective. In the interest of time and word count, there is no need to include tactics. Use quantifiers like the number of, or percentage of, etc; or definitive words like launch, establish, complete, etc.
Strategy: based on the tools, identify at least one strategy for each goal and each objective that will help guide the organization and harness resources through the objectives and goals, towards the vision. The strategies should be specific enough that each department or employee in the organization would have no problem identifying tactics that they or their department should undertake that would contribute to achieving the objectives of the organization. The strategies should be specific to the organization and the goals/objectives and drawn from the tools; don’t just use the generic strategies.
Metrics: This section should include key performance indicators (KPIs) to show progress (both leading and lagging indicators) and identify potential warning signs (must be leading indicators).
There is no need for a separate intro/conclusion for this assignment.
Formatting:
This assignment should be 2500-words (not including appendices or reference list).
Adhere to all APA formatting requirements for this assignment with the exception of the following for in-text citations:
In the body of Part B, you should be referring to the Appendices as the sources of your critical thinking. For example: “Company ABC has an opportunity to partner with rival company B (Appendix X, Porters Five Forces) to take advantage of the MNO regulations being introduced by the provincial government (Appendix Y, PESTEL)
