Digital surveillance plays a crucial role in preventing and solving crimes, improving public safety, and providing valuable evidence for court proceedings. While it enhances security, it’s essential to balance these benefits with privacy rights and ethical considerations
every body paragraph’s point must be developed with cited source support, not just anecdotes or general opinion statements. You must introduce source material from at least five high-quality sources you have found on your own as relevant support sometime during the course of your essay, and at least 2 of your sources must be scholarly, academic, peer-reviewed sources. Finally, your essay must be at least 1,600 words long, not counting your required MLA-formatted Works Cited page, and it must be structured with an introduction, focused body paragraphs and a conclusion
An introduction should start with a hook or attention-getter that engages the reader, transition smoothly to topic introduction and/or background on your topic, and lastly transition smoothly to a 1-2 sentence thesis statement that clearly expresses your argument and gives some indication of the points that will be raised. Introductions can be more than one paragraph, but probably should not be longer than that in a piece of writing this size.
Body paragraphs must have a clear and not repetitive topic sentence within the first sentence or two and must stay focused throughout on making and supporting a single, distinct point to support your thesis. This point may be a reason to believe your argument, a specific example or piece of evidence to help prove your argument, or a refutation of some opposing argument. As you focus on developing each point, you must create a clear chain of thought, with each sentence clearly leading to the next, and you must introduce, cite, and analyze some concrete source material. Be sure to lead in with some explanation of who or where it’s from, and then be sure to discuss its significance afterward. Also, be sure you clarify how your point in the paragraph supports your overall argument. The number of body paragraphs will depend on the number of main points you intend to make in your argument.
A strong conclusion may restate your thesis (in different words and with more insight), review your main points (in a fresh way), perhaps revisit a source already discussed for a further quotation or return to the idea in the hook, and leave the reader with some final idea to think about or some challenge to act upon. It should not raise and develop any new points.
