Are ownership rights at risk?
I just came across a story that explains that farmers are losing control over the ability to maintain their farm equipment Schrader (2021). This is apparently due to the manufacturers’ wish to maintain control and property rights over the software used to control the equipment.
This issue is part of a broader “right to repair” movement that is advocating on behalf of owners of all sorts of technology-centric equipment (repair.org, 2021).
How will this movement impact the industry you are studying?

How big do you want to get?
Many of the companies we have discussed in this class are among the largest companies in the world. Some have revenues and employee counts that are larger than some small countries. We have to consider that these are the exceptions and we have to wonder if the principles/founders ever intended for these companies to get this big.
Over the past few decades, we have seen technological innovation that has allowed a few entrepreneurial ventures to grow very quickly. These are called unicorns.
“A unicorn is a term used in the venture capital industry to describe a privately held startup company with a value of over $1 billion. The term was first popularized by venture capitalist Aileen Lee, founder of CowboyVC, a seed stage venture capital fund based in Palo Alto, California (Investopedia, 2020, para. 1).
