Overview
In this course, you are to choose a current topic in
the field of education to research. This topic should be focused on something
that interests you and would benefit educators in the classroom today. This also
allows you to reflect on your higher education journey. What courses stick out
to you as interesting and helped you grow as an educator? What topics made you
want to investigate and discuss them further with friends or colleagues? After selecting
a topic that you would like to research, you will develop and submit the Final
Project: Proposal Assignment. This assignment allows you to explore your topic in
depth by delving into five specific sections. These five sections, which
include Statement of Purpose, Rationale, Research Base, Projected Application
and Description of the Projected Outcomes, will help you form a basis for your Final
Project: Presentation Assignment.
Instructions
You should compose the Final Project: Proposal
Assignment using the Final Project: Proposal Template. Each section
should be at least one paragraph (5-7 sentences). The Final Project: Proposal
Assignment should be between 3-5 pages. The Final Project: Proposal
Assignment must include five total sections (labeled in bold print on the
template) including:
Statement of
Purpose:
In this section, you need to identify:
o
The
intended audience (teachers and school administrators) and grade level
(elementary, middle, or high school)
o
The
format you will use to share your project (PowerPoint presentation, blog,
Prezi, iMovie, Publisher, YouTube, etc.).
o
10-15
different options should be embedded into your project topic. For example, “15 creative
ways to teach writing in a first or second grade classroom” or “12 examples of
how to create memorable high school history lessons”.
Rationale: State why you
chose this project. How does this project fit into the broad area of education?
How would this help teachers in the classroom today?
Research Base: Describe a
minimum of 3 scholarly sources (published within the last 5 years) you will be
using for this project. You may include older sources but at least 3 of the
included sources must be current (published within the last 5 years). List each
source in current APA citation and answer these questions for each source
listed:
o
How
will this source help teachers further understand my topic?
o
How
does this source help support my points I plan to make in the Final Project:
Presentation Assignment?
o
Does
this source provide valuable, realistic options and information for teachers
and/or students in the classroom today?
Projected
Application:
Describe how this project can be integrated into a school or classroom. How
will other teachers or schools be able to benefit from your project? Is this
something they can use in a PLC to help other teachers grow in this area? Would
any materials need to be purchased in order for the information covered in the
presentation to benefit classroom use?
Description of the
Projected Outcomes:
Identify at least 4 outcomes you think will happen as a result of the
implementation of your project. You want to be specific and practical in the
description of your outcomes in order to be able to document whether or not
this actually occurs. Think about the pros and cons that could come from
teachers and/or administrators implementing this information in their
classroom. Would your presentation help teachers achieve short-term or
long-term goals? Would it be sustainable? Discuss your thoughts.
The Final
Project: Proposal Template is provided to help you successfully complete
this Final Project: Proposal Assignment. You should download this
template and fill in your information as directed in the template. All text
should be in 12-point Times New Roman font and all highlighted text should be
replaced. Specific content for each of the five sections can be completed by
answering the questions in each of the section descriptions above.
