Keeping this in mind develop your own outline for your term pape
Research topic/Issue for term paper and discussion
The Impact of Healthcare Disparities on the Chicano/Community
The healthcare inequalities hugely impact the Chicano/community, making it a burning issue that should not be ignored anymore. The disparities are low uptake of healthcare, poor quality healthcare, and poor health outcomes as compared to the other races and ethnic groups (Cabral and Cuevas, para 5). Some of the causes can be socioeconomic challenges, language barriers, immigration status, and discrimination in healthcare settings. For instance, Chicano people suffer from the problem of not having affordable health care coverage, which leads to delays in the diagnosis and treatment of more chronic diseases and lower life expectancies. The barriers lead to more poor health of Chicano than their non-Hispanic white counterparts. Comprehension of these gaps is vital in designing tailored interventions and lobbying for legislative reforms aimed at improving fair healthcare access.
Addressing health disparities within the Chicano people has to be multi-faceted and culturally driven. Health insurance policies should be made as easy to get as possible for programs such as Medicaid expansion and the Affordable Care Act (Kominski et al., para 1). With Medicaid expansion and the Affordable Care Act, health insurance policies become easily accessible. Therefore, they are likely to make substantial coverage gains, lower uninsured numbers, and improve access to outpatient and preventative services for low-income people. Also, strengthening community healthcare centers frequented mostly by Chicano people can help overcome accessibility and quality of health (Kankaria et al., 2). Establishing a culturally and linguistically appropriate treatment model produces a setup where healthcare providers and their Chicano patients can communicate well and have both their requirements answered. Furthermore, dealing with the social determinants of health, like poverty, education, and jobs, is as essential as the health disparities. Through calling for systemic changes and supporting culturally appropriate interventions, we can take a step toward health equity and, thus, the Chicano people’s well-being. Through the collaboration of policymakers, healthcare providers, and organizations in the community, we can diminish these health gaps and ensure that everyone has the healthcare they need.
