For the first article, students will write a biography on a family member, friend, or person with a unique, interesting story. Please follow the steps below:
Part 1: Interview
Brainstorm and select a topic – Select a family member friend, significant other, or an individual to write a feature story on.
Who? What? Where? When? Why? – Background information about the subject, their profession – explain their background leading up to what they are doing presently
Write at least 10-15 questions to ask your chosen subject. Please feel free to ask the participant if you can record the interview. If not, please take notes of their responses.
Part 2: Article
Turn the responses from the interview into an article.
Please write the article in Microsoft Word, Pages, or Google Docs before posting online (helps with checking spelling and grammar)
Write a headline and lead for the article
Follow the inverted pyramid and write the story about your chosen individual in 1,000 – 1,500 words double spaced
The goal for writing this article is to intertwine direct quotes while you paraphrase their responses. I suggest using at least 5 direct quotes from the interview.
When writing the article: Times New Roman font size 12
