For this week’s Journal Assignment, you’ll be completing the “Stop and Reflect” exercise beginning on page 78 of your textbook, “Are You a Natural Helper?” At the end of your response, identify what types of experiences and/or training you would like in order to develop the skills required to become an effective helper.
To make your experience in this class as effective as possible, it’s essential that you approach these reflections openly and honestly. Being an effective helper doesn’t mean being perfect – it means understanding your strengths and acknowledging your current limitations. Remember, even though your reflections are posted into the course, only your instructor will read them.
Your Journal Assignment must be AT LEAST 2 pages in length, but there is no maximum limit. Compose your entry in MS Word, spell/grammar-check it, then submit it.
2. For this week’s journal assignment, you’ll be responding to the “Journal Starter” exercise on page 120 of your textbook.

Although you need not include your answers to the 7 items in your final journal entry, you MUST include your answers to the 5 bulleted questions at the end of the exercise on page 218.

4. Reflect on a time when a significant relationship in your life ended. It may be due to a death, a break-up, a location change (i.e., family move), a coaching change, a graduation, etc. Describe the loss of this relationship is detail, while responding to the following questions:
Were you prepared for the end of the relationship or were you surprised?
Was the termination explained to you, or were you left to figure out the details on your own?
How did you cope with the loss of the relationship? Do you think you would have coped differently/more effectively had your answers to questions 1 and 2 been different?
Given your personal experiences with loss, how might you approach the termination of your relationship with a client?
