This paper will include the integration of the principles of psychological assessment and
psychotherapy. Students will create a case study based on a character from a movie or television
series. The purpose is to develop an assessment and treatment plan. The paper should not exceed
seven pages double-spaced. The title page and references are considered additional pages.
Please follow APA 7th edition formatting and reference style. A minimum of 6 references
must be included (including 2007 or later journal articles).
In this assignment, you will watch a movie and develop a case conceptualization and treatment plan for of one of the
characters in the movie. I provided a few ideas below and a more comprehensive list attached to this outline but if you
have others please first confirm your selection with me.
In your paper, please address the following:
1. Identify the theoretical orientation you feel is most appropriate for use in this case e.g. CBT, psychodynamic,
DBT, client-centered etc. Describe the orientation and discuss the evidence supporting its use.
2. Describe your assessment process including any tests, self-report measures, interviews or other strategies and
give a rationale for the use of each.
3. Using the “case conceptualization worksheet” as a guide, write out your conceptualization of the case; include
a diagnosis based upon DSM-5 criteria (the DSM-5-TR is available as an e-book through the UNBC library) and
the information obtained from your assessment process.
4. Describe the structure and timeline of the proposed approach to treatment.
5. Identify and describe three interventions including when and for what purpose they may be used in the
treatment of this case.
6. Briefly summarize the strengths and limitations of the approach you have chosen.
