This assignment is intended to provide students with
experience in reviewing instrumentation psychometrics to be able to better
identify valid and reliable instrumentation needed in translating credible
research into practice.
Criteria
The following criteria will be used to evaluate student

Evaluate a validated instrument specific to its
development and psychometrics
Analyze validity versus reliability of an instrument
Formulate a discussion as to how this instrument can
apply to your DNPP
Compare and contrast the use of this instrument,
including its validity and/or reliability in at least two published
studies within the last seven years
Determine how the authors of the instrument
determined validity and evidenced reliability
Scholarly Writing
Apply APA 7th ed.
Format of writing and references are accurate
Language, citations,
punctuation, grammar and spelling are appropriate

development and psychometrics.
Tip 1: there are four different types of validity—think about
what/which type(s) of validity apply to your specific instrument.
Tip 2: address the (interrater) reliability of the instrument

FEEDBACK
A couple of
considerations – every formal paper and assessment you need to format it
appropriately in APA 7th ed. There should not be any bullet points.
Additionally, at the doctoral level, there should be minimal, ideally no,
direct quotes. This assessment is getting at the student analyzes an instrument
and reviewing it’s psychometric properties. In other words, of the instrument
you chose, how did the researcher determine reliability and validity – not how
do you define it which is what you wrote to. Lastly, formal papers and
assessments should never be in first person.
