Organizational Background and Problem Statement
For this assignment, you will write the organizational background and problem statement sections of the grant proposal you will be completing for your Unit 9 Assignment. The organizational background is part of the grant proposal where funders are introduced to an organization, and provided with information to help them more thoroughly understand why the organization would be beneficial to invest in. The problem statement section of a grant proposal shows a need in the community that an organization is addressing. The problem statement is an organization’s opportunity to show funders the extent to which a particular need exists in their community and why addressing it is important.

For your organizational background and problem statement, you will include the sections listed below. Recall the organization that you identified in your Unit 3 Assignment to complete your 1- to 2-page essay. Please use the Unit 5 Assignment Template and refer to the readings from this unit for more information on these sections.

Provide the full name and location of the organization.
What is the organization’s mission statement, and when was it founded?
Describe the population served and a summary of the programs offered.
Discuss at least two ways that the organization is unique. Include any major accomplishments if they are listed on the site.
Identify at least two organizations similar to the one you identified that you would collaborate with. The organizations do not have to be located in the same community since this is not a true grant proposal.
Discuss how your organization will collaborate with those two organizations so that funders understand the importance of the collaboration and how collaborating will better serve the community.

Evaluate what the research (found through peer-reviewed journal articles and other reputable sources) states about the extent of the need/problem in society.
