This journal is a place for you to reflect on what you are learning in class. I would like you to think critically about the topics…tell me what you agree with or disagree with, what relates to you and how you can apply the ideas to your own life. This is NOT a summary of what you have read! The purpose of the assignment is to help you to make practical applications of the material as well as to connect it to things you already know to facilitate moving the information to long term memory. If you have questions that are more personal or that you do not feel comfortable asking in the public discussion forum (or if you want a response only from me), this is a great place to ask them. Each journal entry should be the equivalent of 1-2 pages (at least 500 words).
Specific prompts for this week include:
Look at your own culture and identify ways in which it may have affected your personality. How might your personality be different if you were raised in a different culture?
Identify similarities and differences between the many personality theories. Describe how we can use these theories in a complementary way to look at an individual’s personality.
What were the results of your Big 5 Personality Test or other tests you took in your Study Plan this week? Did you find it was a good measure of your personality?
Look at the characteristics of a fully functioning person (Rogers). Which of these characteristics are you currently meeting and what characteristics do you need to continue to grow in? What is your plan to continue growing in the areas you need to?
