The widening racial wealth gap in the United States necessitates exploring alternative economic models for Black communities. This paper examines the potential of cooperative ownership in nanotechnology businesses as a strategy for empowerment. We systematically review existing literature on cooperative ownership, nanotechnology business development, and racial economic disparities. The analysis explores the feasibility of cooperative models for nanotech enterprises within Black communities, considering factors like community stakeholder engagement, access to capital, and potential economic benefits. The paper concludes by identifying key challenges and opportunities associated with this approach and proposes avenues for further research.
