Assignment 2: Annotated Bibliography
The annotated bibliography is our second step toward the formal research paper. The annotated bibliography is designed to help you conduct research, narrow down your topic, and achieve a greater sense of the argument you want to pursue in your research paper. This assignment asks you to research your topic, choose 5 sources (4 scholarly sources and 1 popular source), and write annotations evaluating their credibility, reliability, quality, and relevancy to your research project.
Goals for the assignment:
Select different kinds of sources and evaluate them thoroughly.
Identify various areas, or “threads” of conversation within your topic
Gain a better understanding of your topic and the arguments you want to pursue
Assignment Requirements:
5 entries that are at least 100- 150 words in length for each entry (not including the citation)
4 of these sources must be scholarly, peer-reviewed sources
1 of these sources must be primary sources
Follows MLA style for citations
Double-spaced, in 12 pt. Times New Roman font
Your essay title should be your research question
As always, there must be signs of significant revision between drafts.
Final Draft: Due Thursday 03/14 on Blackboard
This draft is the final draft and, therefore, should have all 5 fully cited and annotated sources.
This final draft should build upon previous revised drafts, feedback, and knowledge from the unit.
Must be submitted as an attachment (either PDF or MS-Word)
