Problem: Over the last year there has been an significant increase in mental health boarding in the emergency departments.
Textbook reference: Patient-centered care has been defined by the institute of medicine(2001)as “providing care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preference, needs, and values, and ensuring that patients values guide all clinical decisions.” Patient centered care is an important feature if EBP(Evidence-based practice).
Textbook: Nursing Research, Generating and Assessing Evidence for Nursing Practice
Denise F.Polit Cheryl TatanoBeck
Submit a 300 to 500-word paper describing a topic related to nursing-sensitive quality outcomes for critical appraisal.
As part of this work, you will include literature that you have critically appraised as an appropriate foundation for “best practice” recommendations. Include literature (at least one each) from 1. primary research and systematic reviews, 2. QSEN, and 3. EBP Guidelines. Five (5) references are required and must be recent, relevant to your topic, and clearly integrated into your paper. (Do not just cite a source without indicating why it is there.)
The paper should be submitted as a Word document. (no pdfs, scanned images, or google docs) using APA 7 format and include a title page and reference page. (No abstract is required for this assignment) The paper should be between 300 to 500 words with at least 5 scholarly references (from within the last five years), including the textbook. (Include textbook page numbers in citations) The paper should be well-organized with an introduction, conclusion, and other appropriate headings and subheadings (at least two levels).
What is the primary topic you are addressing? Phrase as a problem statement. Example: “There have been increased patient falls in the ABC unit over the past 6 months”
What is your analysis of the evidence on this topic? What does the evidence say about best nursing practices related to this problem? (Include literature (at least one each) from 1. primary research and systematic reviews, 2. QSEN, and 3. EBP Guidelines.
What are your recommendations for an intervention based on your own experience and from your analysis of the research? Formulate this into a rough draft PICOT question by answering the following questions:
What is the population most impacted?
What appears to be the most recommended intervention (based on your literature search) for this problem for this population? (Be sure to support your recommendation with the sources from your analysis above).
What is the impact (outcome) you anticipate because of this intervention? (This is also your hypothesis)
Explain the quantitative design method that you anticipate might be best used for an EBP or Nursing Research proposal on this topic.
