The “Term Writing Assignment SP 24” is available in Canvas Files, and through the link below. The assignment packet consists of a downloadable Word document that contains both parts of the assignment. In Part 1 of the packet, you are assigned to develop and submit FIVE illustrated mini-reports (about ONE PAGE EACH, including both text and illustrations) summarizing what is known/ what you have learned about ONE of the fossil primates CHOSEN FROM EACH OF THE FIVE PAGES. For each mini-report, provide a restoration of a member of each kind of primate (both an adult male and female of each species, if available) and illustrate and describe key aspects of the skull and post-cranial skeleton of each type of primate. Also, explain the inferred locomotor patterns, preferred habitats, diet, ecological role, social structure, and other distinctive characteristics of each fossil primate that you select for your project. Be sure to check the packet for more detailed directions for Part 1!
For Part 2, you will be asked to write a TWO PAGE report describing AND ILLUSTRATING what you have learned regarding your favorite NON-HUMAN primate species.
Use the in the class lectures, prerecorded Doc Talks, recorded lectures, curated and OER texts (particularly “Explorations: An Invitation to…, 2nd edition”), as well as handouts, study guides, assigned videos, and reputable internet resources (Wikipedia, etc.) to investigate each form that you select, as well as the other topics that have been assigned. You are encouraged to be creative, artistic, imaginative, and informative as you demonstrate what you have learned about the subjects specified on each page.
To begin, download and save or print the entire assignment. Complete all FIVE mini-reports required for Part 1 (about ONE PAGE FOR EACH PRIMATE), as well as the one to two page paper for Part 2, being sure to include descriptive and explanatory text and one to three illustrations. Text can be handwritten (preferred) or typed/word processed, and illustrations can be hand drawn (preferred) or copied and pasted from the internet. All FIVE mini-reports, and your work for Part 2, should be completed, and then scanned and saved as a PDF, photographed and saved as JPG’s, or completed and saved as a Word file
