Research Paper Outline
Each section should have citations. Any thought that
is not yours, should have a citation. 12-15 pages double spaced, Times Roman. You
should have total of 25 references; You are free to have more. They must be
peer-reviewed scholarly articles. Any government, organization, blog, etc. can
be used after the 25 have been met. Citation suggestions for each section is
just a suggestion. You can have more or less in each section.
Introduction (3-5 citations)

Literature Review (5-10 citations)

Relevant articles that address your
dependent and independent variables

Your annotated bibliography will help you
to write your literature review, because you already have the information.

For example, Johnson (2018) argues that
recidivism is a problem in the Black community, because of a lack of resources.
Structural inequalities would best be addressed in communities of color if an
increase in economic opportunities were present. As stated by Brown (2015) in a
review on Black men and re-entry, communities benefit as a whole when returning
citizens are offered jobs. This will also help families…etc. As Clara Jackson
argues (2016), families, will, etc. etc. NOTICE WHAT I DID….Cite, provide your
argument, without saying I but in an affirmative voice, and then support it
with another citation, etc.
Theoretical Framework (2-5 citations)

You need to not only define what the
theory is, but how it is used to support your argument.

Critical Race theory is important in
addressing school punishment against Black girls, because Black girls are
overrepresented in punishment. Etc. etc.
Methodology (10-20 citations)

Is this quantitative or qualitative? What
is the difference?
Data Collection

Who are your participants? How will you
find them?

How many participants will you have? Focus
group? Interviews? How long will it be?

Where was the geographic location of your
study

What is the demographic of your
participants

Where and how did you find your
participants? What was your method? Be Specific
Sampling

For example:
Research Question 1: What prevents Black males from
reporting on campus sexual assault?
“I ain’t even trying to answer all that. I’m a G about

This respondent appears to have a fear of being viewed
as less than a man….etc. (continue to analyze what the respondent has said)
Having cultural awareness during data analysis is
