3. Briefly describe an upcoming lesson you will teach that will involve writing. How will you individualize your instruction to meet the needs of a particular student? In other words, how will you change or adapt the instruction based on a particular student’s unique strengths, interests, preferences, and current skillset (rather than re-teaching the lesson in a small group or one-on-one session)? Justify your decisions using course texts, and don’t forget to use initials or pseudonyms to protect the child’s privacy. (Kindergarten)
4. Pose a problem of practice for your colleagues. For example, are you having trouble understanding why a particular student doesn’t seem to “get it”? Problem of practice #1
I have been working with my students on not including random capital letters in words when they are writing. At this point of first grade, each of my students are able to tell you that they cannot include capital letters in the middle of words. The problem is when they go back to their desk and begin writing they are still using capital letters in the middle of words. I am struggling with ways to help them remember this rule. I was wondering if anyone has any advice for me to try with my students.
Problem of practice #2
I am struggling to effectively differentiate writing instruction for a diverse group of students with varying skill levels and learning needs. While I want to provide individualized support to each student, I find it challenging to balance the needs of students who require more intensive intervention with those who are ready for more advanced writing tasks. I would appreciate advice on how to design writing lessons that accommodate the diverse needs of my students while ensuring that all learners are appropriately challenged and supported in their writing development.
