Case Analysis Report on Department Store Productivity
Length and format: A Word file of 3-5 pages, including the tables and charts.
Scenario: Mr. Tarkio wants to use the Productivity workbook to analyze the performance of his
sales staff. He specifically wants to compare the commissions and sales by department and by
sales position, and to run a couple of “What-IF” analysis. Please refer to the case background
description (pages 54-57) and the Excel data file posted.
Key Information Requirements for the report: Your case analysis report (3-5 pages) must
provide your EXCEL analysis results to address the following information needs. However, you
can decide how to organize and present the information.
1-Compare the commissions and total sales by department. (Insert pie charts accordingly)
2-Show the commissions and total sales for each sales position by department and summarize the
results briefly. (Insert a copy of the PivotTable in the report)
3-Show the base pay, commission, and gross pay categorized by sales position, and summarize
the results briefly. (Insert a copy of the PivotTable in the report)
4-Based on past performance, what would happen if Mr. Tarkio increased the sales quota for
each position by $100 per hour? Insert any table or chart as you think necessary.
5-What would happen if Mr. Tarkio increased each sales position’s commission by half a percent
(0.5%)? Insert any table or chart as you think necessary.
