You are working in the CLINICAL EDUCATION department for your local ambulance service. As part of your CLINICAL EDUCATOR portfolio, you are assigned to perform a review for a case that your CCP or ECP colleagues documented during their last block of shifts. The paramedics themselves have self-identified that they have learning needs that arose from the case. Keep in mind that for this task you are a CLINICAL EDUCATOR who is doing this review and that your purpose here is to use your clinical knowledge and expertise to inform a future learning plan for these paramedics. This will influence your choice of words and shape how you provide your feedback. Ensure you make every effort to employ high quality academic and professional writing in your report. Select a patient care record and familiarise yourself with the case. Use your text, module resources, clinical practice guidelines and academic literature to research the patient condition and paramedic management of the case. Write a case review report to provide feedback on their documentation and management strategies from an educator perspective. Review the marking rubric to ensure you cover essential elements. You can be creative. The report does not have specific requirements but at a minimum should include feedback on: the history and assessment patient management (including adherence to clinical practice guidelines of your choosing) documentation Include comments aimed at prompting professional reflection and potentially, improving clinical practice to align with current evidence. These should be supported by current literature. It is recommended that you include a minimum of three relevant research studies (<5 years old) to support your review. *In this case review you can choose what you want to focus on. It would be impractical to cover all potential issues and / or commendations. Just as you would expect in an authentic situation, select the areas that you think are the most relevant. Don’t necessarily assume that the cases are representative of poor clinical practice or that the paramedics have necessarily done something wrong. You may find that their care was adequate and that there is simply room for improvement or even that their care was excellent and that you can validate their decisions. You can use some creativity in your reports since the context is not overly specified. You are free to choose what you focus on and higher marks will be awarded for analysis done at a more complex level. Attached is a copy of the patient care report, that we are going to write the essay on, we are focusing on the assessment and treatment of the head injury only, and the evidence around best practice for pre hospital care. ( this means the report maybe correct and nothing needs to change, but we need to back up the assessment and treatment with evidence ) Thank you
