Respond to the following:
1) We started off the course with Ansel Adams, and this week we looked at the work of Stephen Shore. It is stating the obvious to say that their work is quite different. If we look at this like a spectrum, where do you and your personal photographic work fall? Would you have previously thought that Stephen Shore’s work was landscape photography? Do you still feel that way? Feel free to link to or upload an example.
2) Photographs of modern landscapes are made all the time in cities, towns and urban areas. They are made for all types of reasons including journalism, advertising, real estate etc. In your own work, do you prefer documentary style photography or artistic/conceptual photography? How do you distinguish what is a documentary photograph vs an artistic or conceptual photograph? For examples, look at the Week 4 Learning Materials that explore this topic; think of the work of photographers Steven Shore, Joel Sternfeld or Brian Ulrich when responding. Feel free to link to or upload an example.
