Week 7
Please listen to Teams meeting #2. I reviewed this assignment there!
*Also, make sure you read the “Announcements” that augment this assignment.
INFORMATION:
After reading chapter Five, read the article titled: “No Pay, No Play! Poor kids banned from school carnival”. You will be writing an Action plan for the school titled PS 120. (The article is in module 7.)
Before beginning, read the case example on page 104, that involved a school with a large Hispanic population and an event that was mishandled and resulted with many children feeling left out, or invisible. This case example and Action plan will prove to be beneficial when you are working on Module seven’s assignment. The case on page 104, is an example only. It is not part of your assignment.
The Module 7 assignment will be based off of the oversights and mistakes regarding staff education and funding in the PS 120 case. Meaning you are learning from the oversights made from the first PS 120 carnival. You will take what you have learned and will format an Action plan for the next school carnival.
Be very aware that there are two components that must not be overlooked moving forward.
There is an emotional awareness/sensitivity/competency component that needs to be addressed (staff education in the Personal/Interpersonal Action plan). There is also the business component (funding in the Organizational Action plan), that must be addressed. If you do not address educating the staff, as well as the business component in this two part assignment deductions will occur.
You are to use the format below. Based off of the two components, you will demonstrate how each will unfold in your plan of action. You will state what you plan to address in each section and then you will follow with a paragraph that explains the goal for the step. (Like APA formatting).
The Personal/Interpersonal level is directed towards the staff. The business level is directed towards funding.
Think of how you would be presenting each Action plan to the school board. Be professional, purposeful, and intent.
Remember, in step 4, you will need to explain HOW you are planning to “measure” the progress. How will you know if you have achieved the outcome that you are seeking if you do not have a way to measure the progress? How will you know if it is working so far, or if you need to make changes?
ASSIGNMENT:
You will format and address your Action in the following manner:
Action Plan
Personal and Interpersonal Level -(Staff/Faculty)
A). You will be addressing the emotional component of this Action plan. (One of the problems was lack of compassion, understanding, consideration, empathy, etc….
Select at least two of the 14 personal competencies to address at the Personal/Interpersonal level when addressing faculty and principal. Competencies are listed on page 73, in the textbook.
Personal/Interpersonal Action Plan:
State two selected competencies.
Paragraph response: Why do you feel these competencies are important/relevant to this case? Goals = What do you want to faculty and principal to learn/grasp/understand?
2. State the Action Steps
Paragraph response: What are your plans, or strategies to carry out this step? Actions require movement! Doing something! How are you going to implement achievement of your goals?
3. State the Timetable.
Paragraph response: When are the steps happening to ensure competencies are understood, or are being met? How many times?
4. State the Measures of Progress.
Paragraph response: How are you measuring success or failure of awareness and understanding of your selected competencies?
Organizational Level (FUNDING)
Address the Business component of this Action plan.
State the Objective.
Paragraph response : What do you want? Need? What is the goal here?
2. State the Action Steps
Paragraph response: What are your plans to carry out the objective step? Remember, actions require movement! What are your plans, or strategies to carry out this step?
3. State the Timetable.
Paragraph response: When are the steps happening to ensure the objective is met? How many times?
4. State the Measures of Progress.
Paragraph response: How are your measuring success or failure? Did you meet your goal? How will you know?

PEER REVIEW
After you submit your own assignment, you will comment on 1 other blog entry. You will address your colleagues’ questions, or expand on their posts. (1 pt.)
I have provided each of you with several peers to select from. You only have to post to one!
Remember…
Student’s will not be able to view assigned peer’s from their phone.
The student will have to be on a computer.
Look in the right-hand corner of the Assignment-discussion tab. It should display: “Assigned Peer Review” and the students names. Select!
You must submit your own assignment first!
If you are ready to respond to a student and they have not submitted their assignment then e-mail me and I will add students that have submitted to your list!
Do not give a weak response! You may agree or disagree with explanation, or provide general feedback to your peer.
If you see the names but no submission then this means that no student has submitted work. Do not wait until the last minute to submit your assignment. Be courteous to students that are waiting to read and post a response to your submission. By waiting late to submit you are delaying your peers and displaying a lapse in professionalism and judgement.
Best regards,
Mrs. V
