Objective:
To conduct a comprehensive analysis of the impact of international tourism on a selected country, and develop a strategic plan to enhance its global tourism profile while addressing economic, social, political, environmental, and ethical considerations.
Components of the Project:
International Tourism Context: Analyze the country’s current position in the global tourism market, including its appeal to international tourists, key source markets, and comparative analysis with competing destinations. (100 words max)
Economic Impact Assessment: Evaluate how international tourism affects the country’s economy, including foreign exchange earnings, investment in tourism infrastructure, and job creation. (100 words minimum)
Social and Cultural Dynamics: Investigate the impact of international tourists on the country’s social fabric and cultural heritage. This includes the effects on local communities, cultural exchange, and potential cultural commodification. (100 words minimum)
Political and Policy Framework Analysis: Examine the role of national and international policies affecting tourism, including visa regulations, travel advisories, and bilateral tourism agreements. (100 words minimum)
Environmental Sustainability Review: Assess the environmental impact of international tourism in the country, focusing on areas like natural resource usage, pollution, and efforts towards sustainable tourism practices. (100 words minimum)
Ethical Tourism Development Plan: Propose strategies for ethical and responsible tourism development, focusing on issues like overtourism, local community engagement, and fair employment practices. (100 words minimum)
Global Marketing and Promotion Strategy: Develop a comprehensive marketing plan to enhance the country’s appeal to international tourists, focusing on its unique selling points and sustainable tourism practices. (100 words minimum)
Implementation and Management Plan: Outline a practical plan for implementing the proposed strategies, including timelines, key stakeholders, and resource allocation. (100 words minimum)
Risk Assessment and Contingency Planning: Identify potential risks and challenges in the global tourism landscape and propose contingency plans. (100 words minimum)
Final Deliverable:
Report: A comprehensive written report of approximately 1000 words. The report should incorporate an in-depth analysis of the international tourism impacts and strategic development for a selected country. It should rely entirely on secondary data sourced from existing literature, reports, and relevant online resources. (1000 words!!!)
Assessment Criteria:
Depth and Accuracy of Analysis (60 points): Evaluating how thoroughly and accurately the student analyzes the international tourism context, economic impact, social and cultural dynamics, political and policy framework, and environmental sustainability.
Strategic Development Plan (60 points): Assessing the quality, innovation, and feasibility of the proposed strategies for enhancing the country’s global tourism profile, including marketing and ethical tourism development plans.
Quality of Research (40 points): Considering the extent and relevance of the literature and secondary data sources used to support the analysis and recommendations.
Clarity and Organization of Report (20 points): Evaluating the clarity of writing, logical organization of content, and overall presentation of the report.
Critical Thinking and Originality (20 points): Assessing the level of critical thinking and originality in approaching the topic and developing the strategic plan.
