Marilyn Booth published a paper titled “Woman in Islam: Men and the
‘Women’s Press’ in Turn-of-the-20th-Century Egypt.” She researched the
increase in importance of women’s newspapers in Egypt during 1900. According to
Booth, these journals helped Egyptian women an attempt for their rights by
giving them a voice in communities where men often held higher positions. She
supported up her points with stories from history, newspaper articles, and
studies. Booth explained how these publications discussed matters affecting
women as well as supporting and opposing the view that males belong in
positions of power. Her study sheds light on the interactions between men and

lifestyles of Muslim women in Jaffa and Haifa. Agmon claims that societal views
on gender roles and economic standing at the time had an effect on women’s life
in these areas. Her study offers a comprehensive examination of the
opportunities and difficulties that Muslim women in these regions faced during
that particular historical period. Agmon used research from others as well as

The title of one of Saba Mahmood’s works is “Politics
of Piety: The Islamic Revival and the Feminist Subject.” She looks at how
Egyptian women at the center of the Islamic revival movement take on leadership
positions in the fields of religion and politics. Mahmood says that these women
purposely shape their identities in ways that violate stereotypes of feminists
in the West. She offers in-depth understanding of the relationship between
gender, religion, and activism in modern Muslim society, based on her studies
in Cairo. Mahmood’s writings are captivating and creative, providing us with a
new viewpoint on Islam and feminism.

several books, including “Between Marriage and the Market: Intimate
Politics and Survival in Cairo.” It covers the life of women in Cairo in
the late 1900s. Hoodfar looks into how city women manage their kids and money.
She studied this by interviewing people and conducting research on their lives.
The book aids in our understanding of the challenges faced by women and the
strategies they use to prosper in a city undergoing change. Hoodfar’s research
clarifies the ways in which gender roles and Egyptian culture are changing.
