In this part you will develop the report describing the new strategy to address the health problem in the selected country. No abstract is required. A suggested lay-out of the report is below, however you should develop the report in a format that best suits your narrative.
Suggested outline of the report:
Introduction Part: provide a brief lay-out of what you have detailed in the report. Then introduce the health problem in the country selected. Describe its global and local burden, and the existing WHO and local strategy to address the health problem. Contextualize the health problem in the biological, cultural and social determinants of the country. (3-pages)
Main Part: in this part explain the existing processes to address the health problem. Provide the context because of which the problem is a problem i.e. the problem is not under control. Articulate an alternate strategy to address the health problem (make sure to offer a suggestion for improvement of current WHO or local strategies). Explain the cultural motivation underlying your strategy i.e. how is your strategy relevant in the cultural context of the selected country. (4-pages)
Conclusion Part: reflect on the social, ethical and political consequences of addressing the health problem using your strategy. Justify why your strategy will work despite the consequences. Reflect on how your cultural awareness of the country you selected to work on for the project has grown i.e. now that you know about the underlying cultural influence on the healthcare problem how has that increased your own self-understanding of culture. Close with an advocacy paragraph. In this paragraph advocate for their right to: health care, education, prevention, treatment… for children, mothers, elderly, etc. Your advocacy paragraph needs to be convincing, based on research and facts, and with a global component, that highlights your solution. In developing the advocacy paragraph imagine you are trying to get the WHO committee to agree to use your strategy to address the health problem in the selected country. (3-pages)
Report Format and Writing expectations:
The report should be of 10 pages, not including the title page and references.
It should be typed up in double-space and written in conformation to APA style with attention to spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Clear and highlighted use of headers.
The report should be supported by a minimum 10 peer-reviewed, empirical resources. Five of these could be the ones you selected for the presentation.
Use APA style to cite the resources.
