Pop Culture Paper Assignment
Premise: You will choose a pop culture object to write about. That could be
anything from a song or an album, a movie, a tv show or episode, a book, a comic,
a type of clothing, a type of food, etc. If you’re not sure if they thing you want to
write about will qualify, just let me know.
Expectation: Generally speaking, I want you to tell me how this object ties into
the history of American pop culture. Tell me the history behind this object and
how it came to be. Who made it, when, where, etc., etc. Tell me what impact it
had. Did it sell well? Was it initially popular? Tell me how it fits in with the
American culture during the time it appeared. Also, tell me how it made an
impact on American culture, if any. Finally, tell me how this pop culture object left
an impact on you as an individual. Culture is personal as much as it is social.
Basic Requirements: 6 pages, double-spaced. 12 point font. 1 inch margins all
around. Basic, simple font. If you’re using sources like books or journals to help
you out with your paper, make sure you do citations and references.
Due Date: The paper will be due by Thursday May 9th at midnight.
