Creating a Diversity Audit Report and Analysis
Before leaders can move toward embracing a successful diverse organizational culture, they must first stop to assess current demographics.
In this assignment, you will prepare a diversity audit report for your organization, analyze its findings, and propose areas for improvement in a letter. Design your report to include a table and visuals to communicate your data.
Step 1. Plan
Plan for this assignment by selecting an organization to audit. This can be your current organization or an organization for which you have access.
Step 2. Investigate
Conduct an organizational diversity audit to include diversity metrics such as percentages for race/ethnicity, language, age, gender identity, and/or sexual orientation of employees.
Step 3. Quantify
Begin with “numbers”—how much racial, gender, and cultural diversity exists in your organization quantitatively? If possible, further identify these numbers within the context of leadership positions versus non-leadership positions. Record and organize your findings in a Microsoft Word or Excel table.
Step 4. Create
Use your table from Step 3 to create concise and cohesive data visuals such as pie charts or bar graphs.
Step 5. Describe
Describe in qualitative terms the extent to which diverse stakeholders in the organization have opportunities to intentionally interact with one another, based on your review of the website and/or social media sites used by the organization.
6. Recommend
Recommend how the organization can improve diversity, not only quantitatively, but qualitatively through intentional interaction, collaboration, and opportunities to share. Cite at least 3 credible and scholarly sources to support your position.
Compose a one-page recommendation letter to introduce your report. The letter should be addressed to the executive leaders of the organization.
Step 7. Submit
Submit an APA-title page, one-page recommendation letter, 3-5 page report, and APA-formatted reference page.
