Over the next several weeks, you will compose an argumentative essay, meaning you will take a position on a debatable topic and support your position using various argumentative strategies discussed throughout the semester. You will formulate your own argumentand use outside sources to support your position. This is not an informative essay where you present other people’s positions. This is not a how-to essay where you instruct someone to do something. Your position is your opinion, which will be supported by facts through the use of rhetoric.

MLA 9 document formatting is required.
Essays must be uploaded to Canvas as .doc or .docx.
PDFs will not be accepted for this assignment.
Essays must be written in clear and coherent English.
You are required to meet all of the below requirements in order to receive credit for this assignment.

You are required to submit and have approved the Thesis Statement Submission.
You are required to submit and have approved the Formal Outline.
You are required to submit Essay: Rough Draft (Writing Coach Review).
You are required to submit Essay: Final Draft Submission.
Content Requirements
You are required choose a current controversial topic and take a clear position in an argument.
You are required apply Classical Rhetoric to your argumentative essay.
You are required to have an introduction.
You are required to have argumentative body paragraphs.
You are required to have a counter-argument.
You are required to have a conclusion.
You are required to use all three source integration techniques: direct quotation, summary, and paraphrase.
Only one block quotation may be used throughout the entire essay. However, you are not required to use any block quotations in your essay.
You are required to have in-text citations that match the works cited entries on the works cited page.
You are required to have a works cited page containing entries for sources used in your essay.
The works cited page is not included in the word count, and there is a 1300 word count minimum for this essay. This is not a bluff, nor is it asking too much. If your essay is 1299 words, you will not receive a passing grade. A+ essays are usually 1500-2500 words.
An essay with grammatical errors that continually obscure what is being said will not receive a passing grade.
You are required to not plagiarize any portion of your essay, unintentionally or intentionally.
