A 6 page term paper in which you use the discussion forum
post as a basis for a longer research essay.
I do not require that you put together a formal research
paper for this assignment. The final project might be an opinion piece that you
write based on things that you’ve learned from your reading and writing this semester.
Ultimately, I want you to consider how ethics infuse the
literature you’ve read and how you respond to such ethical considerations. You
might want to explore the ethical dilemmas presented in a literary work of your
choice, analyzing how the characters navigate moral complexities and the
consequences of their choices. You can reflect on the broader implications for
society and consider alternative resolutions to the ethical challenges posed by
a particular narrative. If you wish to compose a more formal research paper,
you can support your analysis with references to ethical theories and
principles outlined in the course or elsewhere, and critically evaluate an
author’s stance on morality within the context of the story. Finally, I would
ask you to consider how studying ethics in literature has influenced your own
ethical perspectives and decision-making.

text and build upon at least one of the texts we have looked at this term. You
also might be interested in a theme that you saw in more than one text, which
is fine. In the end, I am more interested in your ideas and the links you make
to pieces of literature than I am in specific formatting issues. Use MLA if
necessary.
My discussion board to build on is this….. “It’s
clear in the novel that Frankenstein was intelligent. However he
didn’t think thorough on actions when he wanted to create something. In a way
he was ignorant. Trying to play “God” by creating something caused issues
that he couldn’t handle. He didn’t want to be held accountable for his actions
when the monster was being destructive and harming others so he isolated
himself and abandoned the creature.. The two of them suffer from loneliness
which is just sad. In a way I feel bad for the creature and have no remorse for
Frankenstein. The creature wants a companion and to experience love and is not
able to. He also experiences people being prejudice in society towards him
because he is different and doesn’t understand why. The novel is well written
and makes readers think about real life and how people are affected by being
different than others. I think we can consider the knowledge that Frankenstein
had for technology and creating something “new” and apply it to our modern day.
To compare to today I think AI or future “robots” can be dangerous in the sense
that the monster was. We don’t know what we are getting ourselves into and the
smarter we make them I believe they can cause destruction to human existence. I
know that we are essentially creating them because technology continually
advances each day, but this type of technology could end up taking over humans
if we don’t put a stop to it.”
