pertains to effective cross-cultural communication. This assignment has two
components: an expository research paper on an approved topic of the student’s
choice and an accompanying research assignment.
Assignment Description:
The
challenge for health care professionals is to understand how culture influences
patient’s
responses to medical issues such as healing, suffering, and the provider-

researching and discussing cross cultural communication strategies that
enhance
patient-provider communication.

intended
to
provide students with the opportunity to research the most effective
communication
strategies
for patients of cultural group other than their own.
Definition
of Terms
Expository
writing is precisely what its name implies – writing that explains a topic,
concept,
or process. It is designed to inform the reader about a given topic. Expository
writing
uses evidence and information from credible sources to support a focused and
logical
explanation of the topic at hand. The informative writing style demands that
you
thoroughly
educate the reader on the given topic without including your own opinions
Culture
can be defined by group membership, such as racial, ethnic, linguistic, or
geographical
groups, or as a collection of beliefs, values, customs, ways of thinking,
communicating,
and behaving specific to a group.
Assignment
Requirements
You will
demonstrate the usual essay-writing skills, but also show your mastery of both
library
database and online research skills. You will read widely and deeply on your
selected
topic and use outside sources to support your thesis. You must utilize between
four and five credible,
outside sources with at least two sources from a scholarly
peer-reviewed
journals.
Your
paper should follow these criteria:

constructive
feedback for revising.
Other
Reminders
· The title page and
reference page will be in addition to the four to five-page
requirement.
· Submitting a paper from a
previous class not allowed.
· The most frequent problem
that students have with this assignment is allowing
the
sources to take over the essay and failing to explain the information from the
sources
and how it relates to the their own thesis. In short, you should be able to
remove
the source material from your essay and still have the framework of an
effective
paper
Rough Draft: Foster care is an arranged system set in place by the government
and aided by social service agencies within the states, and it works as a short-term solution for displaced, abused children and
sometimes orphans. This process is usually completed or approved ordered by a
judge and/or executed by Child Protective Services. While it’s beneficial to
the child to at least find a home through the foster care system, a major
problem is the impact the environment and nature of it on children’s
psychological health. This is due to mistreatment, neglect, physical abuse, and
sexual abuse that sometimes occurs within households or among other children
and/or adults. Oftentimes, this will likely generate some troublesome overall
health problems if not carefully addressed. Although children can greatly
benefit from the foster care system, it’s been shown that there is much need
for re-regulation and reform. A lot of foster children have already gone
through some gruesome, inhumane treatment from some of the homes they are sent
to. To protect these children who are unfortunate to be without their
biological parents, we must address the troubling aspects of the system and the
true nature of the treatment they receive.
According to Adopt US Kids, in 2023
year roughly 400,000 children were placed in the foster care system. Although
the number has decreased significantly, researchers have revealed that young
adults with foster care systems are most likely to have a lower success in
graduating high school and attending college. Approximately 20,000 children age
out of the foster care system each year, facing increased risks of poor
educational outcomes, homelessness, and unemployment. Many of these children
have unique needs that make them eligible for adoption assistance, such as
being older children, their racial or ethnic backgrounds, being part of a group
of siblings needing to stay together, having any disabilities. Despite this,
it’s vital that all
children are given a permanent and
loving home. These kids all deserve the chance to find loving and supportive
families.
Substance/ alcohol use disorders
and mental health among children transitioning to adulthood is frequent. This
population is at a higher risk of developing PTSD, anxiety, depression and
sometimes delinquency. These conditions are mostly the outcome of mistreatment,
neglect, physical and sexual abuse. These complications mostly go unresolved,
and get worse at time, which will lead to more disturbing behavior, such as
violence, and other criminal activities. Foster children are likely to exhibit worsening
and disturbing behaviors, triggered by the trauma they endured in their past
and present years, which can manifest in various destructive ways as they carry
on with their lives. Detecting this early can help mitigate the long term
effects.
The injustice in
foster care system is the fact that there is no regulation. Children in foster
care go through  many more injustices and
disparities in their lifetime than the average person, and we need to advocates
for a more positive development and upbringing for all children.
Although the
foster care system was created to help vulnerable children and offer refuge,
they often fall short when it comes to shielding them from the profound traumas of
abuse, neglect, and instability. While most children and young adults
are traumatized by the foster care system, a low percentage still have the
opportunity to better themselves. There is an urgent need for reform for this
failing system in order to safeguard the well-being of these innocent kids and
offer them the support and opportunities they deserve.
