The purpose of this assignment is to provide students the opportunity to identify the various methodological approaches to the collection and analysis of data in sociology, describe key concepts in sociology, and examine the complex links between individual experiences and broader institutional forces. Students will strengthen critical thinking, written communication, and social responsibility skills.
An annotated bibliography is not an essay. An annotated bibliography is an informative document that provides a list of sources. Each source in the list is summarized and evaluated on it’s relevancy and use in explaining a particular topic.
For the assignment checklist, you must complete the following…
1. I have organized my paper using the default subheadings, Summary, Analysis, and Evaluation for each article individually.
2. I have a minimum of eight relevant key terms (2 per article) in the font color purple (they are provided in the textbook Sociology In Our Times: 12 Edition from Chapters 7, 12, and 13. If you don’t have access to the textbook, you can access the E-book through the Cengage app. Access for 4 months costs around 40 dollars but if you are not able to do that, I will provide you the key terms with the full pages through Google Docs)
3. I have sociologically defined each of the key terms I used (please do this, this part is very important!!).
4. I have provided an in-text citation with the textbook page number in green for each key term I used (don’t use quotations, paraphrase instead).
5. I have a reference page that has the full citation information for each individual in-text citation I used.
6. I have highlighted my thesis sentence in yellow for each section of my paper (I suggest you always do this before moving on to the next section).
Please make sure that all of your words are yours and yours only!! Any references from outside articles which haven’t been provided by myself and improper citing will count as plagiarism. There will be four articles that I will send you through PDF that have been provided by my professor in order for you to successfully complete the assignment.
Also, we are allowed to use our notes when writing the bibliography so I will send you that through a Google Doc file as well. I know I put it as 5 pages which may be a little long but as long as you write about one paragraph with around 4-6 sentences each, then that should be fine.
