For Essay Two, please write a 1300-word response (minimum) to the following prompt (located in WI Review, p. 210) for Theodore Issac Rubin’s “Competition and Happiness”:
How does competition limit people’s ability to lead happy and satisfying lives, according to Rubin? Do you agree with his views? Be sure to support your position with evidence taken from your own experience, your observations of others, and your reading, especially the reading from this course

While NO INTERNET SOURCES ARE ALLOWED in this essay, students must use (and cite) at least one of the supplemental readings in Write It Review that are associated with the Rubin essay to support their position.

NOTE: When using one of the supplemental essays, consider what the relationship of the text is to the Rubin essay. Does it align with Rubin’s thesis, depart from it, or offer a differ way of thinking about it?

I also included two other PDFs, including What to Watch Out For and a Directed summary PDF, which should be used as the introduction and nothing else.
Essay peer review will be on Monday, April 6th so if possible can you give me a rough draft of what you have, it doesn’t need to be finished just a “where I’m at.”
Rubric: Between an A5 and A6 paper will be preferred
A6 paper (A, A-, B+) commands attention by engaging the material in an insightful and mature manner. The response is clear, logical, and convincing. Further, the response is fully developed, relying on well-chosen examples and persuasive reasoning. The 6 paper demonstrates a strong control of language, a fluid use of sophisticated sentences and a notable understanding of the conventions of written English.
A5 paper (B, B-) is clearly thoughtful and competent. The response consistently relies on effective examples that are carefully developed. All parts of a 5 paper will be on topic, though the overall response will not be as accomplished or elaborated upon as a 6 paper. A 5 paper often has a less fluent and complex style than a 6 paper, but it does show a clear control over word choice and sentence variety while coherently observing the conventions of written English
