My paper needs to talk about Race in the Digital Age. YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS.
I was thinking of linking the topic with a documentary I recently saw on Netflix:
“The Social Dilemma”. To write this paper, you have to have watched the documentary on
Netflix.
It is a beautiful documentary film that explores the impact of social media on society,
particularly for what regards social interactions.
In a presentation, I talked about social interactions, how we tend to name and categorize, and how algorithms perpetuate existing racial biases persisting in society.
I think I can make a nice discussion linking the documentary with the topic.
Both cover algorithmic biases and digital amplification.
This is the Outline you need to follow:
1. Introduction + Thesis Statement + something that notes how a look at “the social dilemma” in particular can help us see how the experience of being racialized is different in the digital age.
2. “The Social Dilemma” documentary on Netflix
3. Race in the Digital Age (general discussion says how social dilemma links to a broader discussion of race in the digital age; look at the pdf I sent you to discuss algorithms. etcetera…)
4. something that addresses how the experience of being racialized / the process of racialization is different in the digital age.
